The place
Ahangama sits on the south coast of Sri Lanka, tucked between the colonial city of Galle and the surf breaks of Weligama. It's not a resort town. There's no strip, no package deals, no forced fun.
What there is: a long beach, a slow pace, good food, and a community of people who came for a week and stayed for months. It's the kind of place that gets under your skin.
Getting around
Galle is 40 minutes up the coast. Dutch fort, great coffee, good restaurants. Mirissa and Weligama for surf. Sinharaja rainforest an hour inland.
But honestly, most people don't go far. The beach, the studio, the tuk tuk to the café. That loop is enough. That's the point.
Why Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has a way of slowing people down, in the best sense. The light is extraordinary, the food is incredible, the people are warm. It's affordable without feeling cheap. Beautiful without being precious.
The south coast in particular has a rhythm that's hard to find anywhere else. You come to do something, pilates, a retreat, a break, and you find yourself actually doing it. Less distraction. More of the thing.
